Three Italian events strengthen tourism with a new boost of confidence


TTG, SIA and SUN 2021 ended at the Rimini Expo Center (Italy) with visitors who registered 90% of the number registered in the 2019 edition. Organized by Italian Exhibition Group, the three events, which bring together the chain of tourism supply, saw a marked improvement in the operator confidence curve: a key theme with which this year’s edition was opened. Italian and international tourism is therefore starting from here.

  2. 1,800 brands, confirmations and novelties from many foreign countries and Italian regions were present.

A restart which saw 700 buyers from more than 40 foreign countries (most in physical presence with virtual connection for those from countries which would have required long-haul flights), 62% from Europe and 38% from non-European countries. 80% of the operators selected for the twinning are specialized in leisure tourism (from group travel to tailor-made proposals) with an additional share in the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions). Distributed in 19 halls, 1,800 brands were present and more than 200 events were organized with more than 250 speakers in nine “Arenas” for 650 hours of exchanges and information.

Results that far exceeded expectations and approached pre-pandemic levels, widely welcomed by all stakeholders present and involved in formulating a message of courage and creativity for the most affected sector in the world by pandemic shock. The thirty or so foreign countries present at the TTG, some of which with Italy have opened health corridors, have given the sign of confidence that the organized tourism market has been waiting for. The tropics, the Middle East, the Americas and the Mediterranean basin, as well as Europe, have breathed new life into the matching of new international travel packages.

In collaboration with the most representative professional associations, from Federalberghi to the sectors represented by Confturismo, ASTOI (Tour Operator Association), FTO (Organized Tourism Federation), including FAITA Federcamping, SIB (Seaside Establishment Union), the institutional partner ENIT (Italian Tourism Board), the Regions, the world of research with ISNART, the Polytechnic of Milan and the CNR (National Research Council) and analysts of markets and consumer trends, a schedule of meetings has been established to represent the tourism of tomorrow.

A kind of tourism that will dialogue with institutions to quickly equip themselves with the tools necessary for a new start: from proposals put forward to develop the hotel sector in terms of infrastructure and concept in order to meet the requirements. always increasing in quality, to new industrial strategies, as in the case of ITA (Italian Air Transport), which has confirmed its commitment to environmental and economic sustainability by operating with latest generation aircraft and responding to the demand for direct flights on intercontinental routes.

TTG has also proven that territories can specialize more and more by listening to their vocation and by promoting their traditional intangible assets and their exceptional products, from experiential tourism to wine routes. Market trends must be identified in advance with foresight in order to boost the competitiveness of Italian tourism in global markets. The highlights of the 58th TTG spoke the language of trust in people, life, nature and the future. During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia expressed the hope that the value of tourism would increase by 20% of GDP thanks to the combined effect of the Italy brand and the measures adopted by the government in favor of business and employment.

To mark the 70th anniversary of SIA Hospitality Design, four exhibitions – Rooms, Outdoor, Wellness and Hotel in Motion – organized by architects specializing in hospitality and contract design, expressed the innovation and evolution of Made in hotels. Italy in minimal luxury, sustainability and great attention to the physical and mental well-being of clients, with increasing attention to the balance between closed and open spaces.

SUN Beach & Outdoor Style, in its 39th edition, also presented a program brimming with new ideas for outdoor businesses, beach establishments and campsites. New glamping concepts have brought together the requirement of design, attention to detail and a spirit of the outdoors for a market with great potential for Italy and abroad, including the cold countries of northern Europe. And SUN has also provided the tools for companies to specialize in this segment, with focused debates in the Outdoor Arena program and specific focus on various themes in the Beach Arena on the new digital technologies that beaches now need to deliver. new customer services in the name of relaxation and security.

In addition, this year, the halls of the SIA also hosted the new Superfaces event, a b2b marketplace specifically dedicated to innovative materials for interiors, design and architecture.
