OAS :: 64th Americas Lecture Series: “Politics in the Digital Age: Artificial Intelligence and Democracy”

Each year, the Secretary General of the OAS publishes a draft program-budget for the coming calendar year. The OAS General Assembly meets in extraordinary session to approve the program-budget. Find these documents from 1998 to 2013 here.

Each April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report on the financial results for the previous calendar year. Reports covering the period 1996-2016 can be found here.

Approximately six weeks after the end of each semester, the OAS publishes a semi-annual management and performance report which, since 2013, includes reporting on programmatic results. The full texts can be found here.

Here you will find data on the human resources of the OAS, including its organizational structure, staffing levels in each organizational unit, vacancies and performance contracts.

The OAS executes a variety of donor-funded projects. Evaluation reports are commissioned by donors. The reports of these evaluations can be consulted here.

The Inspector General provides the Secretary General with reports on the audits, investigations and inspections carried out. These reports are made available to the Permanent Council. You can find more information here.

The OAS has been discussing the issue of real estate, funding for maintenance and repairs, and deferred maintenance of its historic buildings for several years. The General Secretariat has proposed a series of options for its financing. The most recent document, reflecting the current status of the Strategy, is CP/CAAP-3211/13 rev. 4.

The OAS Treasurer certifies the financial statements of all funds managed or administered by the GS/OAS. Here you will find the latest general purpose financial reports for the main OAS funds, as well as the OAS Quarterly Financial Reports (QFR).

Each year, the GS/OAS publishes annual operational plans for all areas of the Organization, which are used to assist in the formulation of the annual budget and as a means of monitoring institutional mandates.

64th Series of Conferences of the Americas: “Politics in the Digital Age: Artificial Intelligence and Democracy”

Under the theme: “Politics in the Digital Age: Artificial Intelligence and Democracy,” the Organization of American States (OAS) will host the 64th Americas Conference Series on Tuesday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT).

The event will feature as keynote speaker the Director of the Institute for Democratic Governance and Professor at the European University Institute, Daniel Innerarity and will include remarks from:

  • OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro
  • OAS Secretary for Hemispheric Affairs James Lambert
  • The Rector of San Martin de Porres University, José Antonio Chang
  • The Director of the Department of Effective Public Management of the OAS; Maria Fernanda Trigo
  • Permanent Observer of Spain to the OAS, Carmen Montón

The Americas Lecture Series is a program created in 2004 by the OAS Permanent Council to enrich hemispheric debate on key issues on the inter-American agenda. Since its creation, 63 conferences have been organized, thanks to the support of the San Martín de Porres University of Peru and other contributions from some permanent observer countries.
